All rings in this paper are assumed to be commutative with identity element. Let \(A\) be a ring. Denote by \(\mathrm{Nil}(A)\) its nilradical; i.e, the set of the nilpotent elements of \(A\). An ideal \(I\) of \(A\) is said nonnil if \(I\not\subseteq \mathrm{Nil}(A)\). The authors have introduced the concept of nonnil-multiplication rings. A ring \(A\) is said to be nonnil-multiplication if each nonnil-ideal \(I\) of \(A\) is a multiplication \(A\)-module; i. e., whenever \(J\subseteq I\) is an ideal of \(A\), there exists an ideal \(L\) of \(A\) such that \(J=LI.\) In the this article, the authors give several characterizations of nonnil-multiplication rings. For instance, they have proved that \(A\) is a nonnil-multiplication ring if and only if every prime ideal of \(A\) is a multiplication \(A\)-module. Also, they have shown that each nonnil-multiplication ring has Krull dimension less than or equal to \(1\). On the other hand, they have studied the stability of this property via flat overrings and trivial extension and used the trivial extension construction to give non-trivial examples of nonnil-multiplication rings which are not multiplication rings.
