The authors are concerned with the Sturm-Liouville problem \[ -y''(x)+q(x)y(x)=\lambda w(x)y(x), \;y(0)-h_1 y'(0)=0,\; y(1)-h_2y'(1)=0, \] where \(q,w\in L^1(0,1])\) and \(w(x)>0\) for a.e. \(x\in [0,1]\), \(\lambda\) is the spectral parameter. The accurate asymptotic behavior of the first eigenvalue on the jump set is given. The results indicate that the asymptotic behavior is only related to the values of the coefficients of the equations in the neighborhood of the end points. They also give some applications to a model which comes from the genie selection.
