In this paper, the author deals with the oscillation of odd order linear functional differential equations \[ y^{(n)} (t) +p(t)y(\tau(t)) =0 \tag{E} \] under the assumptions \begin{itemize} \item[\((H_1)\)] \(p\in C([t_{0},\infty))\), \(p(t)>0\), \(n\) is odd; \item[\((H_2)\)] \(\tau(t)\in C^{1}([t_{0},\infty))\), \(\tau'(t) >0\), \(\displaystyle\lim_{t\to\infty}\tau(t)=\infty\). \end{itemize} The interesting oscillatory result of (E) given by the author is affected by the result of \textit{T. Kusano} [J. Differ. Equations 45, No. 1, 75--84 (1982; Zbl 0512.34059)], who presented a differential equation with a mixed-type deviating argument. To demonstrate the novelty of this study, the author derives the oscillation of equations \[ y^{(n)} (t)+p_{0} y(t+\cos t) =0 \tag{\(E_{x1}\)} \] and \[ y^{(n)} (t)+p_{0} y(t+\sin t)=0,\tag{\(E_{x2}\)} \] where \(p_{0}>0\) is a constant (see Examples 1 and 2).
