It is well known that, for \(K\) a field, \(K[x] \otimes K[y] \cong K[x,y]\). This leads to the question of what algebras may be realized as twisted tensor products of \(K[x]\) and \(K[y]\), as defined by \textit{A. Čap} et al. [Commun. Algebra 23, No. 12, 4701--4735 (1995; Zbl 0842.16005)]. One may approach this problem by attempting to construct all twisting maps between \(K[x]\) and \(K[y]\), i.e., linear maps \(K[y] \otimes K[x] \to K[x] \otimes K[y]\) satisfying certain conditions. Such twisted tensor products which are quadratic were classified by \textit{A. Conner} and \textit{P. Goetz} [J. Noncommut. Geom. 15, No. 1, 41--78 (2021; Zbl 1490.16062)]. In the present paper, the authors consider this problem in more generality and obtain a near complete classification. The approach is to reframe the problem in terms of classifying infinite matrices satisfying certain conditions.
