This paper answers three questions asked by \textit{N. Noble} [Topology Appl. 259, 287--310 (2019; Zbl 1426.54012)] and gives a partial answer to a question asked by \textit{K. Alster} [Fundam. Math. 129, No. 2, 133--140 (1988; Zbl 0657.54017)]. The authors prove that every Alster space is totally Lindelöf and this gives a new characterization of regular Alster spaces. The authors construct a non-regular totally Lindelöf space that is not Alster and prove that there exists a Lindelöf \(P\)-space that is not Frolík. In particular, the authors prove the following results. \textbf{Theorem 1.1.} If \(X\) is a regular topological space, then \(X\) is an Alster space if and only if \(X\) is totally Lindelöf. \textbf{Theorem 3.5.} If \(X\) is an Alster space, then \(X\) is totally Lindelöf. \textbf{Theorem 4.1.} There is a Hausdorff, totally Lindelöf space that is not an Alster space.
