The null boundary controllability for a fourth-order parabolic equation with Samarskii-Lonkin-type boundary conditions (Q6141233)

In this work, the author investigates the null boundary controllability for the fourth-order parabolic equations \(u_t +u_{xxxx} -cu=0\) on \([0,1]\times [0,T]\) with Samarkii-Ionkin-type conditions. Due to the absence of self-adjointness under these boundary conditions, the author initially illustrates that the eigenfunctions of the auxiliary spectral problem of the the backward adjoint system form a Riesz basis in \(L^2(0,1)\). In addition, the author establishes the existence and uniqueness of the adjoint problem and, applying the moment method, derives necessary and sufficient conditions for null boundary controllability of the given system for some classes of initial data.
