    In this paper, the authors study following problem \[ \left\{\begin{array}{l} -\operatorname{div}\left(\left(1+\frac{|\nabla u|^{p(x)}}{\sqrt{1+|\nabla u|^{2 p(x)}}}\right)|\nabla u|^{p(x)-2} \nabla u\right)=\lambda f(x, u), \text { in } \Omega, \\ u=0, \text { on } \partial \Omega \end{array}\right. \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) with smooth boundary \(\partial \Omega\), \(f \in C(\bar{\Omega} \times \mathbb{R})\), \(\lambda>0\) is a parameter and \( p \in C^1(\bar{\Omega})\) with \(\max _{y \in \bar{\Omega}} p(y)<p^*(x)\) for all \(x \in \bar{\Omega}\), \(p^*(x)=\frac{N p(x)}{N-p(x)}\) if \(p(x)<N\) or \(p^*(x)=+\infty\) if \(p(x) \geq N\). Using the methods used in [\textit{K. Ho} et al., Electron. J. Differ. Equ. 2014, Paper No. 237, 12 p. (2014; Zbl 1316.35138); \textit{C.-G. Kim} and \textit{J. Shi}, Result. Math. 64, No. 1--2, 165--173 (2013; Zbl 1277.35190)] and assuming some assumptions on \(f\), the authors show that the above problem has at least two positive solutions for sufficiently large \(\lambda\), and it has no positive solutions for small \(\lambda>0\).
