Let $R$ denote a standard graded $\mathbb{K}$-algebra. Given $t$ and $l$ positive integers, denote by $\mathcal{F}_{t,l}$ the set of sets of $\ell$ linearly independent homogeneous elements of degree $t$, $\{ f_1,\dots,f_\ell\}\subseteq R_t$, such that $\operatorname{Ann}_R(f_1,\dots,f_\ell) \not = 0$ and define \[ \delta_R(t,\ell) = \left \{ \begin{array}{ll} e(R) - \max\{e(R/(F)) : F\in \mathcal{F}_{t,\ell} \} & \text{ if }\mathcal{F}_{t,\ell}\not = \emptyset,\\ e(R) & \text{otherwise}, \end{array} \right . \] where $e$ denotes the multiplicity of a graded $R$-module. This function is called the generalized minimum distance function of $R$ and was first defined in [\textit{M. González-Sarabia} et al., J. Algebr. Comb. 50, No. 3, 317--346 (2019; Zbl 1430.13049)]. In Theorem 3.5, the authors show that if $R$ is reduced then $\delta_R(t,\ell)\geq \delta_R(t+1,\ell)$. Then, they define the stabilization value of $R$ by $s_R(\ell) = \lim_{t\to \infty} \delta_R(t,\ell)$ and the regularity index of $R$ by $r_R(\ell) = \min\{t\in \mathbb{N} : \delta_R(t,\ell) = s_R(\ell) \}$. The stabilization value is computed in several cases in Theorem~3.8. In Theorem 3.11, the authors show that if $R$ is reduced then $\delta_R(t,\ell) \leq \delta_R(t,\ell +1)$ and, in Theorem 3.14, assuming that $\operatorname{depth}(R)\geq 2$, they show that $r_R(\ell+1)\leq r_R(\ell)+1$.
