The authors consider the integral equation \[Q(f(x)) = \int_{-\infty}^\infty K(x-t) \mu(|t|) f(t) \, \mathrm d t\] assuming that the function \(Q\) is odd, continuous on \(\mathbb R\) and monotonically increasing on \((0, \infty)\) and satisfies a few other minor technical conditions, \(K\) is strictly positive, even, monotonically decreasing on \((0, \infty)\) continuous and integrable on \(\mathbb R\); \(\mu\) is a measurable function with some mild additional conditions. Under these assumptions, they provide sufficient conditions for the equation to have at most one strictly positive solution that is integrable over \(\mathbb R\). Some concrete applications are provided.
