For the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation \[ \frac{\partial^{2}u}{\partial t^{2}}+ \gamma \frac{\partial^{2}u}{\partial t^{2}}+g(u)=f(x,t),\quad L_{0}<x <L_{1},\;t>t_{0} \] with the usual initial and boundary conditions an approximate method is constructed to solve this problem. This method is based on the spline approach that uses linear functions and the functions \(sh(\omega x)\) and \(ch(\omega x)\), where \(\omega\) is a free parameter.
