Let \(G\) be a group, \(G_0\) be a subset of \(G\) and \([G_0]\) and \( \langle G_0\rangle\) denote the submonoid and the subgroup (respectively) generated by \(G_0\). Let \({\mathcal{F}}(G_0)\) denote the free abelian monoid over \(G_0\). The elements of \({\mathcal{F}}(G_0)\) are called sequences (over \(G_0\)) because they have a form \(g_1\bullet \dots \bullet g_n\), where \(g_1 ,\dots, g_n \in G_0\) and ``\(\bullet\)'' denotes the operation in \({\mathcal{F}}(G_0)\). Such a sequence is called a product-one sequence if the product \(g_1\dots g_n\) in the group \(G\) is equal to \(1_G\). As the authors explain, they study ``algebraic and arithmetic properties of monoids of product-one sequences over finite subsets of \(G\) and over the whole group \(G\)''. Many results are presented in this direction. The final part of the paper is devoted to the case when \(G\) is an infinite dihedral group. For this special case, more precise results are obtained.
