Let \(k\) be a field and \(B=k[x_1,\dots,x_n]\) a polynomial ring. Denote the additive group \((k,+)\) by \(G\) and assume that it act algebraically on \(B\). There are three examples of nonlinear actions for which the invariant ring \(B^G\) is not finitely generated as \(k\)-algebra. Those examples are due to Roberts, Freudenburg and Daigle-Freudenburg. One important fact concerning these examples is that the characteristic of \(k\) is zero. It may be natural to ask: Is it true that \(B^G\) is finitely generated as \(k\)-algebra when \(\mathrm{char} (k)=p\)? The paper under review show that \(B^G\) is finitely generated as \(k\)-algebra for those three examples when characteristic of \(k\) is positive.
