A maximum distance separable (MDS) code is a code extremal with regard to the Singleton bound. That is \(d=n-k+1\) where \(n\) is the length, \(d\) the minimum distance, and \(k\) the dimension. A near maximum distance separable (NMDS) code has \(d=n-k\). A linear complimentary dual (LCD) code is a code with a trivial intersection with its orthogonal. The authors given necessary and sufficient conditions that twisted Reed-Solomon codes are MDS or NMDS. Additionally, they construct classes of LCD MDS or NMDS codes.
