The authors consider the additively structured monontone inclusion \[ 0\in\left( \mathcal{A}+\mathcal{B}\right) u\tag{SMI} \] in a real Hilbert space \(\boldsymbol{H}\), where \(\mathcal{A}:\boldsymbol{H} \rightarrow2^{\boldsymbol{H}}\) is maximal monotone, \(\mathcal{B} :\boldsymbol{H}\rightarrow\boldsymbol{H}\) is Lipschitz and \(\mathcal{A} +\mathcal{B}\) is maximal monotone. \ It is assumed that there exists at least one solution to (SMI). The authors find an element \(u^{\dag}\) of the solution set which solves a variational inequality problem. Existence and uniqueness of global solutions are proven for a time-continuous counterpart of the iterative regularization forward-backward method, strong convergence to \(u^{\dag}\) is proven, and, under the assumption that \(\mathcal{A}+\mathcal{B}\) is strongly pseudomonotone, a convergence rate is given. The problem is discretized in time to form a numerical technique. Several examples are given to show that this technique compares favorably to existing methods.
