The authors introduce the definition of approximate oblique dual \(g\)-frame for closed subspaces in Hilbert spaces and give a characterization; they also give an interpretation in the setting of signal processing where the signals are considered as elements in a Hilbert space under certain requirements. The paper is organized as follows: Section 1 is introductory and Section 2 reviews definitions and properties that are used later, and may be found in [\textit{A. Khosravi} and \textit{A. M. Mirzaee}, Acta Math. Sci., Ser. B, Engl. Ed. 34, No. 3, 639--652 (2014; Zbl 1313.42089)], [\textit{Y. J. Wang} and \textit{Y. C. Zhu}, ibid. 25, No. 12, 2093--2106 (2009; Zbl 1198.42032)], [\textit{W. Sun}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 322, No. 1, 437--452 (2006; Zbl 1129.42017)], and/or [\textit{X. Xiao} and \textit{Y. Zhu}, Acta Math. Sin., Chin. Ser. 56, No. 1, 41--52 (2013; Zbl 1289.42099)]. In addition, it defines the oblique dual and alternative dual of a \(g\)-frame, the \(\varepsilon\)-approximate oblique dual, and \(\varepsilon\)-consistent reconstruction, and shows how \(\varepsilon\)-consistent reconstruction is associated with oblique projections. Section 3 discusses the characterization and properties of approximate oblique duals; in particular, it extends some properties of approximate dual \(g\)-frames. In Section 4, the authors obtain approximate oblique dual \(g\)-frames for closed subspaces from the perturbation of oblique duals.
