This paper discusses the internal stabilization of a clamped microbeam that is modeled by a sixth-order hyperbolic PDE by means of a feedback law that suppresses the effects of an unknown distributed disturbance. This feedback law is designed by means of a sliding mode control approach that uses sign multivalued operators, the exponential decay being proved in terms of estimations for a Lyapunov functional that is viewed as a perturbed energy. The well-posedness of the resulting closed loop system (which still needs a full state measurement) is established using the theory of maximal monotone operators, the existence and uniqueness of an appropriate solutions (strong or mild, depending on the regularity of data) being obtained.
