The authors examine stretching and rotation of quasiconformal mappings on a line. For a \(K\)-quasiconformal map \(f:\mathbb C\to\mathbb C\), the set of accumulation points of the fraction \(\log(f(z)-f(z_0))/\log(z-z_0)\) as \(z\to z_0\) is called \(\chi_f(z_0)\). Denote by \(B(z_0,r)\) the disk of radius \(r\) centered at \(z_0\), and \(\overline B\) is the closure of \(B\). The main result of the paper is quantified in the following theorem. Theorem 1. Let \(f:\mathbb C\to\mathbb C\) be a \(K\)-quasiconformal mapping. For almost every \(x\in\mathbb R\) with respect to 1-dimensional Lebesgue measure we have that \(\chi_f(x)\subset\overline B(1/(1-k^4),k^2/(1-k^4))\). Here \(k=(K-1)/(K+1)\). Also, the authors obtain an estimate for the Hausdorff dimension of the images of subsets of line. Theorem 3: For any \(K\)-quasiconformal mapping \(f:\mathbb C\to\mathbb C\) and \(A\subset\mathbb R\) with the Hausdorff dimension 1, \(\dim f(A)\geq1-k^2\) for \(k=(K-1)/(K+1)\).
