This paper deals with a reaction-diffusion-advection equation arising from a biological model of migrating species. If the environment is spatially heterogeneous, the model assumes that the population moves up the gradient of a variable local growth rate \(m(x)\). For large advection, the existence of a unique positive steady-state which is globally asymptotically stable among all the nonnegative solutions has been established by other authors in some previously published works. This paper puts its efforts into the understanding of the qualitative properties of this steady-state. In particular, a conjecture proposed by Cantrel, Costner and Lou on concentration phenomena is solved under mild conditions on \(m(x)\): the author shows that the stationary solution concentrates on the set of positive local maximum points of \(m(x)\). Also, a partial result on the profile of the stationary state is proved, for the special case when \(m(x)\) has equal peaks.
