Let \(X\) be a real normed linear space of dimension greater than or equal to three endowed with a norm \(\| \cdot \|\), and \(\gamma\) be a symmetric monotone norm in \(\mathbb{R}^3\). In this interesting paper, a longstanding open problem has been solved: \(X\) is an inner product space if and only if, for every three points \(a_1, a_2, a_3 \in X\), the set of points at which the function \(X \ni x \mapsto \gamma(\|x-a_1\|,\|x-a_2\|,\|x-a_3\|)\) attains its minimum, intersects the convex hull of these three points.
