A space \(X\) is called CLP-compact if every cover of \(X\) consisting of clopen sets has a finite subcover. This concept was introduced by \textit{A. Šostak} [Gen. Topol. Relat. mod. Anal. Algebra, Proc. 4th Prague Topol. Symp. 1976, Part B, 445--451 (1977; Zbl 0369.54006)] under the name ``cb-space'' as a generalization of compactness and connectedness. Since both compactness and connectedness are preserved under arbitrary products, it is natural to ask if the same is true for CLP-spaces. Šostak announced [ibid.] that every product of CLP-spaces is a CLP-space, but this turns out to be false as was shown in the paper by \textit{J. Steprāns} and \textit{A. Šostak} [Topology Appl. 101, No. 3, 213--229 (2000; Zbl 0962.54020)], indeed, even the product two CLP-spaces need not be a CLP-space. In the paper under review, using methods of Steprāns and Šostak, the author shows further pathology of products of CLP-spaces. He constructs a countable family of Hausdorff spaces such that every finite product of spaces in the family (possibly with repetitions) is CLP-compact, while the product of all spaces in the family is not CLP-compact. From this family he constructs a single Hausdorff space \(X\) such that every finite power of \(X\) is CLP-compact, while no infinite power of \(X\) is CLP-compact. This answers a question of Steprāns and Šostak [ibid.]. The author's result is reminiscent of, and uses ideas from, \textit{Z. Frolik}'s example of a pseudocompact space which has the property that every finite power of the space is pseudocompact while no infinite power is pseudocompact [Commentat. Math. Univ. Carol. 8, 139--144 (1967; Zbl 0162.26502)].
