Given a metric space \((M,f)\) and a subset \(X\subseteq M\), its Voronoi diagram is the collection of Voronoi cells indexed by points of \(X\). The cell corresponding to \(x\in X\) is given by all points of \(M\) which are closer to \(x\) than to any other point in \(X\). The authors study Voronoi diagrams of manifolds and varieties with respect to polyhedral norms. They provide upper and lower bounds on the dimensions of Voronoi cells. For algebraic varieties, they count their full-dimensional Voronoi cells. As an application, they consider the polyhedral Wasserstein distance between discrete probability distributions.
