The study of the arithmetic, analytic, and geometric behavior of roots of some specific classes of polynomials plays a pivotal role in the characterization of some very well studied mathematical objects. In recent years, many authors studied the arithmetic, analytic and geometric aspects of roots of characteristic polynomials of some linear recurrence sequences. Many of these polynomials are particular cases of the three-parameter family \[ f_{k,p,q}=x^k-px^{k-1}-qx-1, \tag{1} \] for non-negative integers \(k, p\) and \(q\), with \(k \ge 3\) and \(p \ge 1\). In the paper under review, the authors prove some properties related to the roots of the polynomial in (1) which, for instance, make their applications possible in a large class of Diophantine problems. They use a clever combination of results in real and complex analysis to prove their results.
