This paper focuses on the problem of fluid-structure interactions of pipelines. The problem is described with the aid of a reduced-order model where the Bernoulli-Euler beam model is employed to represent the pipe whereas the fluid dynamics is represented by nonlinear oscillators. The problem is discretized in space with the aid of Galerkin method. Fluid dynamics is modeled by van der Pol oscillator together with the Langevin equation. Numerical results are presented showing that the reduced-order model is capable of replicating the pipeline frequency spectrum and that it is also able to address some complex responses of nonlinear dynamics as limit cycle behavior.
