The paper under review provides some combinatorial conditions for certain homological properties of the edge ideal of a graph. More precisely, The authors show that Kimura's necessary and sufficient condition for the non-vanishingness of multigraded Betti numbers of edge ideals of chordal graphs, [\textit{K. Kimura}, Commun. Algebra 44, No. 2, 710--730 (2016; Zbl 1365.13023)], can be extended to the larger family of weakly chordal graphs. In addition, the authors obtain a description for the Betti numbers of edge ideals of threshold graphs in terms of the Euler characteristic of the independence complex of its induced subgraphs.
