Let \(A\) and \(S\) be compact operators in a complex separable Hilbert space \( \mathcal{H}\) and \(S\) be selfadjoint. Let \(\lambda _{k}(A)\) and \(\lambda _{j}(S),\) \(k,j=1,2,\dots\), be the eigenvalues of \(A\) and \(S\), respectively, taken with their multiplicities and enumerated in the non-increasing order of their absolute values. Consider the quantities \[ v_{R}:=\underset{k}{\sup }\underset{j}{\inf }\left\vert \Re(\lambda _{k}(A))-\lambda _{j}(S)\right\vert \] and \[ v_{I}:=\underset{k}{\sup }\underset{j}{\inf }\left\vert \Im(\lambda_{k}(A))-\lambda _{j}(S)\right\vert. \] The aim of this paper is to derive bounds for \(v_{R}\) and \(v_{I}\). Also, the author discusses applications of the obtained bounds to Schatten-von Neumann and Jacobi operators.
