In this paper the problem of numerical approximation of the 2D model of drug release from cardiovascular drug-eluting stents. The problem is approximated by the backward Euler formula in time and by the discontinuous Galerkin scheme in space, where bubble modal basis functions are employed. The consistency of the proposed scheme is shown, the stability analysis and the convergence analysis are performed, where the ranges of penalty parameters and the time step ranges are determined, which guarantees the stability. In the convergence analysis the convergence of the approximate solution to the exact solution is shown. Numerical results for polynomials of degree 2 show the efficiency of the scheme and confirms the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed scheme.
