Let \((M,J_1,J_2,J_3)\) be an almost hypercomplex manifold. This means that \(M\) is a \(4n\)-manifold and \((J_1,J_2,J_3)\) is an almost hypercomplex structure, that is, \(J_1\), \(J_2\) and \(J_3\) are almost complex structures on \(M\) satisfying the quaternionic identities. If \(g\) is a pseudo-Riemannian metric on \(M\) for which \(J_1\) is an isometry while \(J_2\) and \(J_3\) are anti-isometries, then \((M,g,J_1,J_2,J_3)\) is said to be a pseudo-hyper-Kähler manifold if the almost complex structures \(J_\alpha\) \((1\leq \alpha\leq 3)\) are parallel with respect to the Levi-Civita connection \(\nabla\) of \(g\). Such manifolds have been studied in [\textit{K. I. Gribachev, M. H. Manev} and \textit{S. G. Dimiev}, in: S. Dimiev (ed.) et al., Trends in complex analysis, differential geometry and mathematical physics. Proceedings of the 6th international workshop on complex structures and vector fields, St. Konstantin, Bulgaria, September 3--6, 2002. River Edge, NJ: World Scientific, 51--62 (2003; Zbl 1072.53526)]. In this paper, the author introduces the class \(\mathcal W\) of manifolds \((M,g, J_1,J_2,J_3)\) that are locally conformally equivalent to pseudo-hyper-Kähler manifolds. Any \(\mathcal W\)-manifold has a linear connection \(D\) preserving \(g\) and \(J_\alpha\) \((1\leq \alpha\leq 3)\) called the canonical connection. The explicit expression of the torsion of \(D\) as well as the relations between the curvatures of \(D\) and \(\nabla\) are given. Moreover, when the torsion of the canonical connection \(D\) is \(D\)-parallel, it is proved that \(M\) is \(D\)-flat, the scalar curvature of \((M,g)\) vanishes, and \(M\) is an isotropic pseudo-hyper-Kähler manifold. Finally, the author constructs a four-parameter family of 4-dimensional Lie groups in the class \(\mathcal W\) such that each of these manifolds is \(D\)-flat, conformally flat, but the torsion of \(D\) is not \(D\)-parallel.
