    Let \(\alpha >1\) be a real algebraic number of degree \(m\geq 2\) with regular continued fraction expansion \(\alpha =[a_0;a_1,\dots ]\). Let \((r_n)_{n=0}^\infty\) and \((s_n)_{n=0}^\infty\) be two infinite sequences of non-negative rational integers satisfying \(0=r_0<s_0<r_1<s_1<\dots\) and \(r_{n+1}-s_n\geq 2\) for all \(n\). Denote by \(p_n/q_n\), \(n=0,1,\dots\) the \(n\)th convergent of \(\alpha\). For all \(n,j\in \{ 0,1,\dots\}\) set \(b_j=a_j\) if \(r_n\leq j \leq s_n\) and \(b_j=v_j\) if \(s_n\leq j \leq r_{n+1}\) where \(v_j\) is a rational integer with \(1\leq v_j\leq k_1a_j^{k_2}\) and \(\sum_{j=s_n+1}^{r_{n+1}-1}\mid a_j-v_j\mid \not= 0\). Here \(k_1\) and \(k_2\) are fixed positive rational integers. Suppose that \(\limsup_{n\to\infty}\frac {\log q_{s_n}}{\log q_{r_n}}>2+2m(3+k_2+\frac {2\log k_1}{\log 2})\). Then the author proves that the irrational number \(\beta =[b_0;b_1,\dots ]\) is transcendental. In addition if \(\limsup_{n\to\infty}\frac {\log q_{s_n}}{\log q_{r_n}}<\infty\) and \(\limsup_{n\to\infty}\frac {\log q_{r_{n+1}}}{\log q_{s_n}}<\infty\) then \(\beta\) is eighter a \(S\)-number or a \(T\)-number.
