The authors prove a (normal) trace estimate for solutions of the linear, non-autonomous, anisotropic Maxwell system with absorbing boundary conditions. The estimate uses div-curl estimates and properties of a general Helmholtz decomposition. Using this result, the authors show that solutions to the system for small data converge exponentially to zero without any additional geometric constraints imposed on the domain (previously it was required that the domain be star-shaped). The domain is assumed to be quite regular with \(C^5\) boundary. For the main decay theorem, the authors assume a non-trapping condition on the material parameters \(\varepsilon\) and \(\mu\), which comes from a Morawetz multiplier technique.
