    For a simply connected domain \(G\) in the plane with boundary \(\partial G\) and area \(A(G),\) one can define, in case there exists a stress function \(u(x, G)\) satisfying \(\Delta u = -2\) inside \(G\) and \(u = 0\) on \(\partial G\), the torsional rigidity of \(G\) defined by \(P(G) := 2\int_{G} u(x, G) \,dA\) and the Euclidean moment of order \(p\) of \(G\) with respect to \(\partial G\) defined by \(I_p(G) := \int_{G} \varrho(x, G)^p \,dA\), where \(\varrho(x, G)\) represents the distance from \(x\) to \(\partial G\). In the spirit of G. Pólya and G. Szegő (who proved that \(P(G)\geq \frac{1}{2} A(G)\varrho(G)^2\)), E. Makai (who proved that \(P(G)\leq \frac{4}{3} A(G)\varrho(G)^2\) and \(P(G)\leq 4 I_2(G)\)), and F. G. Avkhadiev (who proved that \(\frac{3}{2} I_2(G)\leq P(G)\leq 64 I_2(G)\)), the author proves a series of inequalities for convex domains \(G\), such as: (i) \(I_2(G)\geq \frac{1}{6} A(G) ρ(G)^2\), in which equality occurs if \(G\) is a circle or a polygon circumscribed about a circle; (ii) \(I_2(G)\leq \frac{2}{3} \varrho(G)I_1(G)\), in which the constant \(\frac{2}{3}\) is the best possible; (iii) \(I_2(G)> \frac{1}{3} \varrho(G)I_1(G)\); (iv) \(I_2(G)\leq \frac{1}{3} A(G)\varrho(G)^2\) , in which equality occurs if \(G\) is a degenerate domain.
