The aim of the paper is to give such conditions that for a polynomial \(f\) the ideal generated by the orbit of \(f\) under the action of the symmetric group is monomial or has a monomial radical. The author of the present paper expects that for a homogeneous polynomial with sufficiently general coefficients the above described ideal has a monomial radical (see Conjecture 2). The first result deals with the special case when the homogeneous polynomial has a symmetric support set. It is proven that under some specific conditions such a polynomial indeed has a monomial radical (see Theorem 1). In Theorem 4 one can find another, slightly different approach of the main question. It is shown that if a homogeneous polynomial has only square-free terms and coefficients not summing up to zero, then in a larger polynomial ring the ideal (generated by the larger orbit) is square-free monomial. This is in fact a consequence of a more special result (Proposition 7), that is proven by a combinatorial interpretation.
