\(\mathrm{RCD}^*(K,N)\) spaces are the analogues of Alexandroff spaces with respect to the Ricci curvature. From the Riemannian geometry viewpoint, they are geodesic metric spaces whose Ricci curvature is bounded below by \(K\) and dimension bounded above by \(N\). They generalise Ricci limit spaces, whose study can be traced back to Gromov's compactness theorem. The existence of a universal cover for any \(\mathrm{RCD}^*(K,N)\) space was proven by \textit{A. Mondino} and \textit{G. Wei}, [J. Reine Angew. Math. 753, 211--237 (2019; Zbl 1422.53033)]. The main result in this note is that any \(\mathrm{RCD}^*(K,N)\) space is semi-locally simply connected. This result implies that its universal cover is simply connected.
