There are numerous versions of Wiener's Tauberian theorem. One version of Wiener's Tauberian theorem is the assertion that the ideal generated by an integral function \(f\) on the real linear \({\mathbb R}\) is dense in \(L^1({\mathbb R})\) if and only if the Fourier transform of \(f\) never takes the value 0. In this paper, the authors prove a Wiener's Tauberian theorem for the \(L^1\) spherical functions on a semisimple Lie group of arbitrary real rank. The theorem of L. Schwartz states that every closed translation-invariant subspace of \(C^\infty({\mathbb R})\) is spanned by the polynomial-exponential functions it contains. In this paper, the authors obtain a Schwartz-type theorem for complex groups.
