A maximal surface in Lorentz-Minkowski 3-space \(\mathbb{L}^{3}\) is a spacelike surface with zero mean curvature. Maximal surfaces share many local properties with minimal surfaces in \(\mathbb{R}^{3}\). However, their global properties are quite different. The author constructs new examples of maximal surfaces in \(\mathbb{L}^{3}\), homeomorphic to the real projective plane minus two points, and with degree of the Gauss map equal to \(4\).
