A \textit{noncompact} finite-volume hyperbolic 3-manifold is \textit{arithmetic} if it is commensurable to a Bianchi orbifold \(\mathbb{H}^3/\mathrm{PSL}(2, \mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{-d})\) (i.e., with a common finite-sheeted cover), a link is \textit{arithmetic} if its complement is so. \textit{M. Lackenby} showed [Geom. Dedicata 147, 191--206 (2010; Zbl 1211.57011)] that there are only finitely many \textit{congruence} alternating links and asked whether there are also only finitely many \textit{arithmetic} alternating links ([\textit{M. D. Baker} et al., J. Algebra 528, 497--504 (2019; Zbl 1431.57025)] found all \textit{principal congruence} link groups). Answering the question of Lackenby in the negative, the authors of the present paper construct two infinite families of arithmetic alternating links.
