Mathematical billiards have been an important setting for ergodic theory of mechanical systems since their introduction by \textit{Ya. G. Sinaĭ} [Russ. Math. Surv. 25, No. 2, 137--189 (1970; Zbl 0263.58011)], and much is known about the properties of the smooth invariant measure. \textit{A. Katok} and \textit{J.-M. Strelcyn} [Invariant manifolds, entropy and billiards; smooth maps with singularities. With the collab. of F. Ledrappier and F. Przytycki. Berlin etc.: Springer-Verlag (1986; Zbl 0658.58001)] developed Pesin theory in this setting for other measures under the hypothesis that the measure is `adapted' (meaning that it does not attach too much mass to neighbourhoods of the singularity set). Here a class of planar dispersing billiard maps corresponding to a finite horizon Lorentz gas is studied, and two open questions resolved for this class. The first shows that there are non-adapted invariant probability measures with positive entropy. The second concerns the appearance of `jumps' in the pressure function for a family of geometric potentials.
