The author proves global exact boundary controllability for homogeneous and nonhomogeneous 1-D first order quasilinear hyperbolic systems of diagonal form. For these, local exact boundary controllability for 1-D first order quasilinear hyperbolic systems proved. Applications for the Saint-Venant systems with friction are given.
