Let \(M\) be a (pseudo)-Riemannian symmetric space and denote by \(s_{p}\) the symmetry at \(p\in M\) . A subset \(S \subset M\) is called an antipodal set of \(M\) if \(s_p(q) = q\) holds for every \(p, q \in S\). This paper studies antipodal sets of two kinds of pseudo-Riemannian symmetric spaces: para-Hermitian symmetric spaces and pseudo-Riemannian symmetric R-spaces. The author shows that for effective semisimple pseudo-Riemannian symmetric spaces as above associated with non-degenerate Jordan triple systems the following two properties hold: \begin{itemize} \item[1.] any antipodal set is included in a great antipodal set; \item[2.] any two great antipodal sets are transformed into each other by an isometry. \end{itemize}
