    For positive integer \(n\), the Euclidean \(n\)-dimensional space is denoted by \(\mathbb{R}^n\), with its norm \(|x|\) of \(x= (x_1,x_2,\dots, x_n)\in \mathbb{R}^n\) defined by \(|x|= (x^2_1+ x^2_2+\cdots+ x^2_n)^{1/2}\). If \(p(x)\), \(x\in\mathbb{R}^n\), is a Lebesgue measurable function, \(\Omega\) is a measurable subset, \[ p^0= \text{ess\,sup}\{p(x): x\in\Omega\},\;p_0= \text{ess\,inf}\{p(x): x\in\Omega\}, \] then the weighted space \(L^{p(.),w(.)}(\Omega)\) with variable exponent and norm are defined by \[ L^{p(.),w(.)}(\Omega)= \Biggl\{f\text{ measurable}: \int_\Omega|f(x)w(x)|^{p(x)} dx< \infty\Biggr\}, \] \[ \| f\|_{p(.),w(.),\Omega}= \text{inf}\Biggl\{\lambda: \int_\Omega|f(x)w(x)/\lambda|^{p(x)} dx\leq 1\Biggr\}, \] \(\| f\|_{p(.), w(.),\Omega}= \| f\|_{p(.),w(.)}\) if \(\Omega= \mathbb{R}^n\). The operators \(H,G\), relating to the Hardy operators are defined by \[ H(f)(x)= \int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\chi_{(0,|x|)}(|t|)f(y)\,dy,\;G(f)(x)= \int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\chi_{(|x|,\infty)}(|y|) f(y)\,dy. \] The main theorems of this paper include the statements that: if \(p(x),q(x)\), \(x\in\mathbb{R}^n\), are measurable functions, \(1< p_0< q(x)< q^0< \infty\), \(1\in L^{r(.)}(\mathbb{R}^n)\), \(1/r(x)= (1/p_0)- (1/p(x))\), and if \(v\), \(w\) are weight functions, then \(\| H(f)\|_{q(.),w(.)}\leq C_1\| f\|_{p(.),v(.)}\) for some finite constant \(C_1\) if and only if there is a number \(a\), \(0< a< 1\), such that \(A_B(a,p,q)<\infty\), where \[ A_B(a,p,q)= \sup_{t>0}\Biggl(\int_{|y|< t} v(y)^{-p^{0'}} dy\Biggr)^{a/p^{0'}}\| w(.) V(.)\chi_{(t,\infty)}(|.|)\|_{q(.)}< \infty, \] \[ V(x)= \Biggl(\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\chi_{(0,|x|)}(|y|) v(y)^{-p^{0'}}dy\Biggr)^{(1-a)/p^{0'}},\;(1/p')+ (1/p)= 1. \] The conditions indicated are of the types initially considered for \(n=1\) and non-variable exponents by \textit{B. Muckenhoupt} [Stud. Math. 44, 31--38 (1972; Zbl 0236.26015)].
