Double field theory (DFT) is a formulation of field theory which realises symmetry in terms of the T-duality property from string theory. \textit{I. Vaisman}, [J. Math. Phys. 53, No. 3, 033509, 21 p. (2012; Zbl 1274.81197)] proposed metric algebroids as a model for DFT. Algebroids as such are generalisations of Courant algebroids. In this note, the authors survey an article of theirs [J. Math. Phys. 61, No. 1, 013505, 29 p. (2020; Zbl 1431.81098)], where they interpret the Vaisman algebroid in terms of double structures, showing that it is an analogue of the Drinfel'd double. The interpretation of the latter in terms of Lie bialgebroids, by \textit{K. C. H. Mackenzie} and \textit{P. Xu}, [Duke Math. J. 73, No. 2, 415--452 (1994; Zbl 0844.22005)], is used. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1515.17004].
