A simple quasi-stationary model of forming deuteron fluxes and neutron generation in the IEC axial plasma diode with two external anodes and a transparent internal hollow cathode is described. Such configuration provides longitudinal deuteron oscillation (inertial confinement) and the required frequency of collisions is calculated with slow deuterons in the cathode plasma. The results of calculations show the prosibility to develop a compact generator of fast neutrons with fluxes up to \(10^7\) neutrons per sec. in the total solid angle with the use of deuterium filling for the transverse dimension of the source no more than 5 cm, whose lifetime exceeds \(10^8\) operating cycles.
