In the paper under review, the author describes (up to conjugacy) all pairs \((A, B)\) of nilpotent subgroups of a finite group \(G\) with simple socle from the \(\mathbb{ATLAS}\) [\textit{J. H. Conway} et al. Atlas of finite groups. Oxford: Clarendon Press (1985; Zbl 0568.20001)] and from \(\big \{L_{6}(2), L_{7}(2), U_{5}(4), U_{7}(2), U_{8}(2), U_{9}(2) \big \}\) for which \(A \cap B^{g} \not =1\) for any element \(g \in G\). The results obtained confirm the hypothesis made by \textit{E. P. Vdovin} (see Problem 15.40 in [\textit{V. D. Mazurov} (ed.) and \textit{E. I. Khukhro} (ed.) The Kourovka notebook. Novosibirsk: Russian Academy of Sciences (2010; Zbl 1211.20001]) that, if \(N\) is a nilpotent subgroup of a finite simple group \(G\), then there is \(g \in G\) such that \(N \cap N^{g}=1\).
