The following estimate of the \(L^p\) norm of the two-dimensional triangular Dirichlet kernel is obtained. For each finite \(p>1\) and arbitrary \(N\geq1\), \[ \int_{\mathbb T^2}\left|\,\sum\limits_{n\in K_{\alpha,N}\cap\mathbb Z^2} e^{i(n_1x_1+n_2x_2)}\right|^p\,dx\leq C_pN^{2p-2} \] uniformly with respect to \(\alpha\) and \(N\), where \[ K_{\alpha,N}=\{x\in\mathbb R^2: x_1+\alpha x_2\leq N, x_1,x_2\geq0, \alpha\in[1,\infty)\}, \] and the constant \(C_p\) depends on \(p\) in such a way that the bound becomes \(\ln^2 N\) as \(p\to1\). The methods of the proof use number theoretic arguments, in contrast to certain earlier papers on this subject. As an immediate corollary, the author proves a similar estimate for a \(k\) sided polygon of diameter \(N\) in place of \(K_{\alpha,N}\).
