Given a double sequence \(S=(s_{k\ell})\) of real or complex numbers, consider the weighted means \[ \sigma_{mn} =\frac 1{P_{mn}} \sum^{m,n}_{k,\ell=0} p_{k\ell} s_{k\ell}, \quad m,n=0,1,\dots, \] where \((p_{k\ell})\) is a double sequence of nonnegative numbers such that \(p_{00}>0\) and \[ P_{mn}=\sum^{m,n}_{k,\ell=0} p_{k\ell}\to \infty \quad \text{as}\quad m,n\to\infty. \] Under the conditions \[ P_{m\ell}/P_{mn}\to 0\quad \text{and}\quad P_{kn}/P_{mn}\to 0 \quad\text{as}\quad m,n\to \infty \] for any fixed \(k,\ell=0,1,\dots\), the well-known Kojima-Robinson theorem states that if \(S\) boundedly converges in Pringsheim's sense to some limit \(L\), then \(\sigma_{mn}\) also converges to the same \(L\) as \(m,n\to\infty\). The aim of the present paper is to derive converse conclusions under additional conditions. For weighted mean methods, these Tauberian conditions are of special interest, since they provide one step for proving Tauberian theorems for power series methods. Both product weights and nonfactorable weights are treated. For the particular case of the Cesàro method \((C,1,1)\), the results of the present paper contain a classical Tauberian theorem by \textit{K. Knopp} [Math. Z. 45, 573-589 (1939; Zbl 0023.02801)] and eliminate one of the three Tauberian conditions in Corollary 5 of [Stud. Math. 110, No.~1, 83-96 (1994; Zbl 0833.40003)] by the reviewer.
