For a renormalized Lorenz map \(f\), the Williams zeta function of \(f\) is a generating function for the number of periodic orbits taking into account their knot type and the linking between the knots. The Sullivan zeta function (twist zeta function) is a generating function for the number of periodic orbits taking into account the number of twists in their stable manifolds. More precisely, these zeta functions are defined for Lorenz maps with double saddle connection. The authors show that the Williams zeta function resp. the Sullivan zeta function of a renormalization of \(f\) factor into two components. One of these components only depends on the factor of the kneading pair which encodes the type of the renormalization. The second component depends on both factors of the kneading pair: the other factor of the kneading pair determines the zeta function, and the type of the renormalization modifies its argument (Sullivan zeta function) resp. is *-multiplied to it (Williams zeta function).
