The authors use the finite element method for the approximate solution of the Sivashinsky equation, if the data satisfy initial and boundary conditions. Optimal error bounds and convergence are also derived and analysed in the fully discrete scheme. It is shown that the backward Euler method has disadvantage for implementation. No numerical experiments are performed.
