Let us consider space-like spherically symmetric initial data for the Einstein-Higgs field equations with one asymptotically flat end. Let also \(Q\) be the \(2\)-dimensional Lorentzian quotient of the future Cauchy development of the initial hypersurface \(S\) equipped with asymptotically flat physical reasonable black hole initial data. The main result of the present paper states that, under some technical conditions, \(Q\) contains a connected, achronal marginally trapped tube which intersects \(S\) and is asymptotic to the event horizon.
