For a polynomial \(P\) of degree \(k\) with all roots real of the same sign, ordered as \(\mid x_1\mid\leq \mid x_2\mid<\ldots \mid x_k\mid\) the logarithmic mesh is definded by \[ \text{lmesh}(P)=\min_{j=1,\ldots,k-1}\frac{\mid x_{j+1}\mid}{\mid x_j\mid}. \] The authors prove: For any \(\lambda>0\) it holds that \[ \text{lmesh}(\lambda P+xP')\geq \text{lmesh}(P), \] and \[ \text{lmesh}(P\ast Q)\geq \max(\text{lmesh}(P),\text{lmesh}(Q)), \] where \(P\ast Q\) is the Schur-Szegö product.
