The paper discusses a series of very interesting results which link the quantum cohomology of \({\mathbb C} P^1\) to CMC surfaces in \(\mathbb R^{2,1}\) in a remarkable way. As far as the reviewer can tell, this approach is fully novel, although many results discussed in the paper have been known for some time. As the authors point out, the existence of a family of local \(t t^*\) structures for the quantum cohomology of \({\mathbb C} P^1\) is derived from the Iwasawa decomposition. Cecotti and Vafa noted that there is a special global \(t t^*\) structure of maximal domain. The authors made an interesting connection between this fact and its relationship to surface theory. In particular, the relationship between DPW representations for surfaces and quantum theory was clearly explained by Guest in previous works and communications. The paper contains several sections, namely: Space-like CMC surfaces in \(\mathbb R^{2,1}\); Quantum cohomology; first step: A family of CMC surfaces; second step: A distinguished CMC surface; related results and generalization. The paper is expository in nature and very informative. The effort of reading it entirely is worthwhile -- since the relationship between quantum cohomology and the generalized Weierstrass representation of CMC surfaces becomes clear only near the end of this article.
