The authors consider the functional equation \[ 2f(2x+y)+2f(2x-y)=4f(x+y)+4f(x-y)+4f(2x)+f(2y)-8f(x)-8f(y). \] They show that the general solution \(f\colon X\to Y\), \(X, Y\) real vector spaces, is given by the sum of an arbitrary quadratic and an arbitrary cubic mapping. They also investigate the stability properties of the equation when \(Y\) is a \((\beta,p)\)-Banach space. Besides the fact that the authors mention similar equations characterizing quadratic and cubic mappings, respectively, there is no motivation for considering the above one. It also should be mentioned that the stability results heavily use the (additional) assumption that \(f(0)=0\).
